Principal Scientist, Signals Strategy & Informatics Lead

Merck seeks a Principal Scientist to lead Signals, a digital data platform supporting drug development across chemistry, manufacturing, and analytical workflows. The role combines scientific strategy, product ownership, and informatics leadership to transform structured data into actionable insights for faster, more confident development decisions.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute Signals strategy and multi-year roadmap with digital, scientific, and quality stakeholders
- Own the software development lifecycle including requirements, prioritization, release planning, testing, and deployment
- Lead informatics strategy for structured data use across drug substance, product, and analytical development
- Develop predictive analytics and prospective modeling capabilities to identify trends and emerging risks
- Establish governance, decision rights, metrics, and change management to drive adoption and business value
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Pharmaceutical Sciences
- Minimum 6 years of industrial, pharmaceutical, or relevant experience
- Strong scientific and informatics leadership capabilities
- Product ownership discipline and digital product delivery experience
- Experience with software development lifecycle management
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable digital solutions
- Cross-functional influence and stakeholder engagement skills
