Job Summary The Custodial Services Supervisor provides supervision in the selection, work scheduling, training, motivation, and evaluation of assigned custodial staff. This position supervises the activities of custodial staff, who work multiple shifts in assigned buildings and facilities; ensures adherence to work schedules; trains staff to ensure proper health and sanitation techniques are followed; provides guidance and assistance to employees in resolving problems; and assists or provides staff training, as required. This position reports to the Custodial Services Manager. Essential Job Functions Supervises and evaluates custodial staff; recommends new employees for hire; coordinates training of new employees; assigns and schedules custodians to all district buildings. Supervises day-to-day work activities, assigning and prioritizing activities, and monitoring compliance with operating standards. Supervises and motivates employees to complete assigned responsibilities and deliver exceptional customer service. Assists in developing and maintaining district cleaning standards, cleaning runs and relevant levels of service that ensure efficient and reliable business operations. Ensures proper staffing for school and department custodial operations, including assigning substitutes. Assists in planning, developing and implementing training for substitutes, new and existing custodians; ensures employees are trained on high quality cleaning standards, proper use of cleaning chemicals and proper use and care of equipment. Evaluates, orders, and maintains inventory of custodial supplies, material and equipment. Supports senior leadership in the development and execution of short- and long-term custodial operational strategies. Supervises and trains assigned staff and monitors and evaluates performance while providing motivation and tools necessary for staff to maintain high levels of service. Resolves and corrects performance problems and develops corrective measures and provides on-going performance review and feedback. Conducts regular and ongoing site visits to district facilities to observe, inspect and reinforce district practices, procedures and expectations. Assists with the custodial response during snow, wind, cold temperatures and other emergencysituations. Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds. Supports cleaning projects, such as summer team cleaning, window cleaning, and gym floormaintenance. Supports the district's sustainability efforts by monitoring the consumption of resources and implementing training on conservation management. Performs duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Minimum of 5 years of increasing responsibilities in custodial operations, maintenance, or related field. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. Qualifying experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
