Medical Technologist
Collect specimens and perform accurate and efficient testing. Perform all lab test procedures and quality control. Perform patient, control, and proficiency testing in chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, serology, and the Blood Bank. Perform venous and capillary collection of blood samples. Refer other testing to the appropriate reference testing facility. Perform DOT and non-DOT drug collections. Monitor the procedures and activities of the Laboratory Aid and provides guidance, direction, and training. Maintain laboratory records accurately, adhering to all laboratory quality control policies and procedures. Maintain computer records using the HIS/LIS. Maintain the Blood Bank according to CLIA and FDA standards and order blood products from CBB. Perform instrument maintenance, troubleshoot, and maintain an orderly lab. Perform duties according to state and federal regulations, and Hospital's mission, core values, and compliance program. Apply AIDET and two-patient identifiers. Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. Report safety issues, attend educational opportunities, and support performance improvement and quality initiatives. Maintain strategic goals and department specific benchmarks and initiatives. Participates in JCHC committees. Full-time 36-40 hours per week.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor Degree or its equivalent in Medical Technology or closely related field. ASCP or AMT certification required.
