This position plays a vital role in providing first-response support to multiple agencies across Kane County. Duties include transmitting vital information accurately and efficiently to emergency personnel via the radio, as well as computer-aided dispatch software. Telecommunicators also answer administrative and non-emergency lines, providing quality customer service and clarity to individuals on the other line.Typical QualificationsApplicants must meet the following minimum requirements:Minimum age requirement of 18 years oldEducation and experience equivalent to a high school diplomaAbility to speak clear, articulate EnglishFull range of hearing in both earsType accurately with a speed of at least 40 WPMThe position supports a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week operation and applicants must have the desire and ability to work any shift, including weekends and holidays.Desirable qualifications:Previous experience in public-safety dispatchingMulti-line telephone equipmentFast-paced, computerized customer service experienceFlexibility, split-ear, and multitasking are paramountOther combinations of education, training and experience that would provide the necessary requirements to successfully conduct the duties of the job may be considered. If you have a background in customer service, are comfortable with technology, thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a demonstrated history of thinking on your feet, and are meticulous about details, this may be a great position for you. Applicants must successfully pass a keystroke/typing test, simulation testing, and an oral board interview.
