As our Buyer, you’ll lead the full cycle, shaping what lands in our closet, negotiating the deals that make it possible, and using data to make sure every investment earns its place. It’s a role with real influence, real ownership, and a direct hand in the experience we deliver to our members every day. WHAT YOU’LL DO Buying Responsibilities & Investment Management Own and manage the open-to-buy (OTB) budget end-to-end, making investment decisions that align with subscriber demand, closet capacity, and financial targets Lead all vendor negotiations, securing competitive pricing, discount structures, and favorable payment terms that optimize margin and cash flow Analyze selling reports, utilization rates, and subscriber data to identify top performers, underperformers, and emerging trends, then act on those insights Manage category strategy by determining the right brand, style, and price point mix to maximize engagement and closet ROI Review and approve all purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and alignment with buying strategy before and at the time of shipment approval Investments & Inventory Optimization Own product performance across all categories, continuously evaluating utilization, wear rates, and subscriber response to ensure the closet is working as hard as possible Make proactive markdown and exit decisions on underperforming inventory, balancing clearance with brand integrity Oversee the wash testing program, using data from test results to inform reorder decisions, quality standards, and vendor accountability Identify investment opportunities and gaps in the assortment, presenting recommendations with supporting data to key stakeholders Ensure all inventory moves efficiently through the full receiving and activation flow, from receipt through wash testing, alterations, fit, and live publication Build and maintain strong, productive vendor relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for all buying-related communications Lead market appointments, driving assortment decisions and holding vendors accountable to quality, delivery, and pricing commitments Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and New Inventory teams to ensure buying decisions are executed smoothly and accurately Present buying strategies, performance recaps, and investment recommendations to leadership on a regular cadence Operations & Process Oversight Oversee the day-to-day buying operations including purchase orders, buying logs, markdowns, and vendor confirmations, supported by the Assistant Buyer Manage the sampling and review process for all inbound product, including fabric and sketch reviews, fit model approvals, and ecom shoot coordination Own site merchandising standards for assigned categories, ensuring all inventory is live, accurate, and presented consistently Track all products from approval through to live publication, maintaining accuracy of copy, product information, and imagery Ad Hoc & Strategic Projects Lead additional buying projects as needed, including RAs, brand performance reviews, and category deep-dives Stay current on fashion trends, competitor activity, and the broader subscription/rental landscape to continuously sharpen the FashionPass assortment WHAT YOU’LL BRING Experience & Skills 4–7 years of experience in a buying or merchandising role, ideally within fashion retail, rental, or subscription Proven track record of owning the full buying cycle, including vendor negotiation, OTB management, and investment decisions Strong commercial instincts with the ability to turn data into clear, confident decisions Experience negotiating discounts, payment terms, and vendor agreements Deep familiarity with product performance metrics including utilization rates, sell-through, turn, and ROI Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets; experience with buying or ERP systems preferred Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, vendors, and deadlines simultaneously Mindset & Approach Commercially driven with a genuine passion for fashion and the FashionPass subscription rental model Decisive and confident in making investment calls, backing your instincts with data and owning the outcomes Proactive and solutions-oriented; you identify problems before they surface and move quickly to resolve them Strong communicator and collaborator who can manage vendor relationships externally and build alignment internally Meticulous attention to detail balanced with a clear view of the bigger commercial picture A natural leader who elevates the people around them and is excited to develop junior buying talent WHY FASHIONPASS Own the buying function at a fast-growing, mission-driven company reshaping how women engage with fashion Real commercial ownership and direct visibility with leadership from day one A collaborative, empathetic culture that invests in its people and rewards initiative The opportunity to build and shape a buying team as FashionPass continues to scale BENEFITS & PERKS Fun Hybrid office environment -3x a week in office #J-18808-Ljbffr
