About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in ICU License: Active RN License Certifications: BCLS, ACLS Must-Have: Epic experience required Description: Registered Nurse needed for the Intensive Care Unit specializing in oncology and surgical services. The nurse will work a night shift and must be available for three 12-hour shifts per week. The average daily census is 21 patients, with a maximum of 25 beds. Patient ratios are 1:2. The nurse will need to demonstrate proficiency in the interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Experience in managing multi-system organ failure is required. Responsibilities include IV insulin protocols, arterial line management, and blood product administration. Candidates must have skills in central line care and management and be capable of starting IVs. Procedural sedation administration and monitoring experience is necessary. The nurse will care for ventilated patients and manage high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP. Interpretation of arterial blood gases and suctioning is required. Isolation precautions and infection prevention practices must be followed. Candidate should be comfortable working collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, including pharmacy and respiratory services. Preferred skills include teaching hospital experience and travel experience. Chemotherapy administration is not required for agency nurses, but management of chest tubes is essential. Flexibility to float within the oncology service line and potentially to other areas as needed is expected. All Required Training and educational programs should be completed as part of the onboarding process.
