• MLT Student Support Specialist will work closely with the MLT faculty to support students in the instructional setting.
• Responsible for lab session preparation, implementing lab simulations, and providing services that contribute to student learning and student retention.

• Ability to collaborate with faculty in identifying needs and developing and implementing creative laboratory and simulation learning environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with MLT Faculty to setup each MLT course's hands-on lab exercises.
• In collaboration with faculty, review and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with ordering.
• Act as the point person for troubleshooting technical issues surrounding lab/simulation equipment.
• Meet with MLT student's one on one and/or in-group sessions to reinforce course content.
• Assist students in the development good test-taking strategies.
• Mentor students on career and academic advancement as a competent medical laboratory technician.
• Assist in preparing materials for accreditation reports, as needed.
• Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES N/A WORKING CONDITIONS The position requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, and weekends. The position is part time, with hours varying between 8 24 hours per week. Please note this position is grant funded and continued employment is subject to grant renewal. (Please note that assigned tasks and responsibilities on both campuses is required for all MCCC positions and should be established with applicants) ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Positions in this class typically require: ability to use a key board, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification or five (5) years of equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful grant-writing to support technology and equipment acquisitions a plus.
• Experience working with simulation technology.
• Experience working in higher education.
