Hospice/Home Care Aide

When a loved one with a terminal illness needs help with pain control and symptom management, an inpatient hospice facility such as the Sussman House may be the solution. Located on the MaineHealth Pen Bay Campus in Rockport, the Sussman House provides care in partnership with MaineHealth Home Health and Hospice. Services are provided in a caring, home-like setting that promotes dignity and quality of life.

Summary: Under supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Hospice/Home Care Aide role performs in-home care tasks required to help maintain and restore the physical, social, and emotional health of patients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• License/Certifications: Current applicable state license as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Valid Driver's license with vehicle available for work covered by liability insurance as specified by agency policy required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.
• Experience: One year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Home Health Aide preferred.
