Support Service Worker

The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Support Service Worker for the Shapiro Center located in Kankakee, Illinois to perform routine, repetitive unskilled manual tasks associated with support services at Shapiro Center on an assigned shift. Performs support service functions in dietary, laundry, housekeeping, exterior building/campus clean-up and/or clothing service. Participates in meal preparation, care of clothing or cleaning. Completes dietary, clothing and housekeeping services according to Accreditation Council on Services or People with Developmental Disabilities (ACDD), Healthcare Financing Administration (HCFA) and Public Health requirements. Performs simple clerical record keeping tasks pertaining to activities performed. Essential Functions Performs routine, repetitive unskilled manual tasks associated with support services at Shapiro Center on an assigned shift. Exercises safety precautions in the use and handling of supplies, tools and equipment. Performs simple clerical record keeping tasks pertaining to activities performed. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Minimum Qualifications Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of High School supplemented by six (6) months experience in the support service functional area to which assigned. Conditions of Employment Per P.A. 098-0566 – Requires ability to complete an ANSI Accredited food handling training course within 30 days of employment. Requires the ability to perform heavy physical work. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends and holidays. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to travel in the performance of job duties. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
