Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Abilene, Texas.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: 10/05/2026\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, days\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Days, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Oct 5, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an ICU RN with a TX or compact license, requiring 2 years of ICU experience for a 13-week assignment caring for low-to-high acuity patients.Details\n \n ICU unit caring for low acuity ICU patients or high acuity telemetry patients\n Patient ratio of 1:3\n Day shift schedule (3x12 hours), 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM\n On-call required once every 6 weeks\n 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week period\n Any charting system experience required; Altera experience preferred\n Requirements\n \n Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in hand at time of submission\n Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS\n Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required\n Previous charge nurse experience preferred\n Teaching hospital experience preferred\n Trauma Level II experience preferred\n Skills required include IV therapy, arterial line management, central and PICC line care, blood product administration, and cardiac drip titration\n Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy management preferred\n Experience with neuro/psych conditions such as CVA, craniotomy, and TBI preferred\n Experience with cardiac procedures including TAVR, pacemakers, and post cardiac cath care preferred\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care for ICU and telemetry patients including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care\n Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening, including marijuana testing, and a positive result results in automatic cancellation\n Candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could result in a positive drug screen upon arrival\n Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a documented plan for completion\n Non-billable orientation modules averaging 6-8 hours are completed during orientation\n Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a traveler\n RN candidates must reside within 150 miles to be considered local; local candidates are not accepted for this position\n Travel experience preferred but not required\n First-time travelers may be considered\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-748620.
