RN - Clinical Specialist (8a-5p) Southern RegionBallad Health Corporate | RNs | Full TimeDescriptionThe RN - Clinical Practice Specialist functions within the following spheres of influence: patients & clients, nursing standards & nursing personnel, and systems. The Clinical Practice Specialist facilitates expert nursing practice within his/her designated area of expertise. Essential functions of the role include:Guidance & Mentoring: The Clinical Practice Specialist serves as a role model and mentor to nursing staff relative to patient care concerns, evidence-based practice, resource identification, professional development, and research.Education: Coordinates educational programs and presentations for nursing staff, patients & families, students, and area health care consumers. Assumes responsibility for personal professional development.Consultation: Collaborates with all necessary members of the health care team as needed on clinical cases and issues in order to facilitate the provision of excellent patient care and achieve optimal patient outcomes. Facilitates evidence-based policy and procedure development, and works in an interdisciplinary manner toward system standardization. Represents designated area as the clinical and professional practice resource.Research: Actively supports nursing research through data synthesis, research utilization, translation of research into practice, disseminating research findings, and/or generating new research investigations. Maintains collaborative relationships with area schools and colleges of nursing, and Ballad Health Research and Grants & Awards Departments. Participates in one or more Ballad Health Research Councils.The Clinical Practice Specialist is expected to practice autonomously within the scope of professional standards, the rules, and regulations established by the Tennessee/Virginia State Board of Nursing, and is accountable for knowledge of applicable policies and procedures within Ballad Health.The Clinical Practice Specialist is an important member of the leadership team in his/her designated area of expertise. The role requires a commitment to healthcare quality, the ability to function autonomously, and excellent oral and written communication skills. The Clinical Practice Specialist identifies relevant patient care and/or nursing practice KIQ's (key indicators of quality). This is achieved by using Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) methodology and the appropriate data collection, aggregation, analysis and trending in the demonstration of measurable improvement outcomes.Requirements:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.Masters degree in nursing with concentration in designated clinical area required. A Master's degree in another healthcare related field may be considered.Evidence of at least 5 years progressive experience in critical care required.Evidence of prior experience with presentations and/or publications preferred.Membership and involvement in professional nursing organization(s) preferred.Continuing Educational Requirements:Plans and conducts a minimum of two hours of job-related educational programs.Obtains 12 hours educational credit.Verbalizes understanding of Shared Governance Model and willingly serves on at least one Shared Governance, hospital committee, task force, or project to improve patient care or work area.Attends 75% of staff meetings and reads 100% of the minutes of the meetings missed.Maintenance of RN competencies and national certification as required by designated clinical area.Licenses and Certifications: Currently licensed to practice registered professional nursing in the appropriate state.
