Speech Pathologist

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities The Speech Pathologist assesses, diagnoses, treats and helps prevent speech, language, cognitive‑communication, voice, swallowing, fluency and other related disorders. Responsibilities Comply with facility policies and procedures. Report allegations of resident abuse or neglect. Treat residents, families, visitors, and team members with dignity and respect. Maintain confidentiality of resident and family information. Arrive on time and as scheduled. Identify patients demonstrating communication and swallow deficits. Evaluate patients within one business day of written referral from a doctor. Plan and administer an appropriate treatment plan; communicate with referring physician and rehabilitation team. Maintain accurate daily records of treatments, billing, and charting. Follow weekly documentation guidelines for all residents treated. Provide in‑service education to facilities, staff, students, and community. Perform other duties as assigned. Achieve efficiency standards for delivery of speech‑language pathology services. Meet recognized standards of professional education and qualifications. Basic computer skills. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Must be able to work beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays when necessary. Assist in evacuation of residents during emergency situations. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Use a transfer/gait belt or assistance when lifting or carrying objects over 25 pounds. Lift up to 10 lbs: Frequently; 11‑25 lbs: Rarely; 26‑50 lbs: Occasionally; over 50 lbs: Not required. Carry up to 25 lbs: Frequently; over 50 lbs: Not required. Reach above shoulder height: Frequently; at shoulder height: Frequently; below shoulder height: Frequently. Push/pull: Frequently. Hand manipulation: Grasping frequently; handling constantly; torquing rarely; fingering constantly. Twisting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, crouching, climbing and balancing are required. Must meet general health requirements set by state regulations and company policy. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and sometimes hostile individuals.
