Software Engineer

Role Overview

Contribute backend engineering expertise to AI model evaluation by solving real-world programming problems, reviewing code, and delivering technical feedback. You will create reinforcement learning environments that assess an AI model''s ability to fix code, build features, refactor systems, and optimize performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain reproducible reinforcement learning environments for backend programming tasks, including golden reference solutions.
• Develop backend services and supporting code using Java, Python, Node.js, Go, Rust, or similar technologies.
• Write thorough unit and integration tests, with test coverage central to the work.
• Review code for correctness, performance, maintainability, and security, and provide clear feedback to engineers.
• Solve programming tasks and document technical reasoning to support AI model quality improvements.
• Work asynchronously with a distributed team and clearly document engineering decisions.

Qualifications

• Strong backend software development experience with Java, Node.js, Go, Rust, or similar technologies, including Python and Eclipse familiarity.
• Experience building scalable backend systems and APIs.
• Experience debugging, optimizing performance, and creating automated tests.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices and code review.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team.
• Cybersecurity or SecOps experience is highly preferred, including secure coding, application security, penetration testing, vulnerability assessment, OWASP, CWE, or security-focused code reviews.
• Familiarity with AI, data-driven, or large-scale technical projects is a plus. Prior AI experience is not required.

Work Terms

• Remote independent contractor engagement.
• Work is task-based and requires a minimum number of task submissions each week.
• Selected candidates should be ready to begin initial tasks within 24 to 48 hours.

Compensation

• Stated rate range: $100 to $200 per hour.
• Compensation is output-based and paid per task that meets project specifications. Completion time may vary based on experience and workflow, and minimum submission requirements apply.
