Senior Account Manager, Global Freight (Air & Ground)

Position Summary:

As Senior Account Manager, you will serve as the single point of ownership for one of Allegro's largest and most strategic accounts, spanning both international and domestic air and ground freight. You will lead all aspects of the relationship — from day-to-day client communication and reporting to invoicing accuracy and hands-on service execution — while directly managing a dedicated team of employees supporting the account. This role requires the judgment of a senior operator: you are equally comfortable in a client business review, on the phone resolving a service exception, reviewing a freight invoice for accuracy, or coaching your team through a high-volume shipping week. You will act as the voice of the customer internally while partnering closely with operations, carriers, customs/compliance resources, and finance to deliver a consistent, high-quality freight experience across every mode and lane.

Key Responsibilities:

Own Client Communication & Relationship

• Serve as the single, dedicated point of contact for the account across all international and domestic air and ground freight activity
• Build trusted, multi-level relationships with client stakeholders, from day-to-day operational contacts through senior leadership
• Lead regular business reviews covering service performance, cost, capacity, and continuous improvement opportunities
• Proactively communicate shipment status, disruptions, and exceptions before they become client-facing issues

Lead the Account Team

• Directly manage, coach, and develop the team of employees dedicated to servicing the account
• Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular check-ins, and manage scheduling/coverage across shifts and lanes
• Build team capability across international documentation, domestic dispatch, and ground/air transfer processes
• Foster a culture of accountability, urgency, and customer-first execution within the account team

Oversee Freight Execution — Air & Ground, International & Domestic

• Coordinate end-to-end execution of international and domestic air and ground freight movements in support of the account
• Partner with carriers, gateways, and internal operations to ensure on-time pickup, transit, and delivery across all modes
• Ensure smooth handling of customs, documentation, and cross-border requirements for international shipments
• Own resolution of service exceptions, delays, and claims, driving root-cause corrective action with operations and carriers

Manage Invoicing & Financial Accuracy

• Own end-to-end invoicing for the account, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with contracted rates and terms
• Reconcile freight charges, accessorials, and carrier costs against client agreements; resolve billing discrepancies
• Partner with finance on invoice disputes, credits, and collections as needed to protect account profitability
• Monitor account profitability and flag cost or margin trends to leadership

Performance Management & Reporting

• Own client-facing reporting, including on-time performance, service levels, claims, volume, and cost trends across air/ground and international/domestic freight
• Maintain accurate account records, forecasts, and operational dashboards
• Analyze performance data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities; present findings to client and internal leadership
• Lead performance discussions internally and with the client, implementing corrective action plans when needed

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Identify and implement process improvements across execution, reporting, and invoicing workflows
• Support onboarding of new lanes, service types, or volume growth within the account
• Ensure alignment between client expectations and Allegro's operational and network capabilities

Qualifications:

• 5–8+ years of experience in Account Management, Freight/Logistics Operations, or Transportation Management
• Direct experience with both air and ground freight, including international and domestic shipments
• Prior experience managing or supervising a team of employees, including scheduling, coaching, and performance management is preferred
• Working knowledge of freight invoicing, rate/accessorial reconciliation, and billing dispute resolution
• Familiarity with international shipping documentation, customs processes, and cross-border compliance
• Strong customer relationship management and problem-solving skills under time pressure
• Data-driven mindset with the ability to build and present performance reporting to clients and leadership
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills

Preferred Experience:

• Experience managing a single large, high-visibility strategic account rather than a portfolio of smaller accounts
• Background in freight forwarding, 3PL, or a carrier/gateway environment covering both air and ground modes
• Experience owning or closely partnering on invoicing/billing processes for a freight account
• A collaborative, hands-on leadership style suited to managing an embedded account team
• Flexibility to travel to customer sites, gateways, and delivery locations as needed
