Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a real difference in the lives of students by supporting their learning journey as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired. This contract opportunity is set to begin in August and extends through early June, with scheduling options available for both full-time and part-time professionals. You’ll work with students in a school-based setting, providing specialized instruction and orientation & mobility support to help them succeed.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active North Carolina licensure as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, including an O&M (Orientation & Mobility) Endorsement
• Demonstrated experience working with students in educational environments
• Familiarity with ECATS or similar educational data tracking systems
• Strong communication skills and collaborative spirit
• Ability to manage the unique needs of visually impaired students and adapt lesson plans accordingly

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized instruction and adapt curriculum for students with visual impairments
• Perform assessments and develop plans to address orientation and mobility needs
• Document progress, maintain student records, and collaborate with IEP teams and other school staff
• Participate in meetings, including those conducted via Zoom with school administration and other professionals
• Engage with parents and caregivers to ensure consistent support for each student
