Student Placement Program
Neighborhood Health supports students, residents, and interns who plan to serve the uninsured and underserved in their future careers in medicine, nursing, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dentistry. However, the volume of requests for placements far exceeds the number of opportunities we can offer.
Prior to applying, students are advised to verify with their educational institution that a valid and active affiliation agreement exists between the school and Neighborhood Health. For Neighborhood Health to evaluate an individual for placement, there must be a signed affiliation agreement with the student’s, resident’s, or intern’s institution.
By applying, the student, resident, or intern agrees that Neighborhood Health has the sole authority to determine and revoke placement opportunities at its discretion. It is important for students not to view their application as a guarantee of placement. We advise students to explore additional options until they receive written confirmation of their placement approval.
We welcome applications from counseling students enrolled at Vanderbilt University or public universities within the state. To qualify, students should have a keen interest in integrated primary care environments instead of conventional therapy or counseling roles. Preference will be given to those fluent in Spanish, Arabic, or Kurdish. Please note that we do not consider applicants from online programs unless they possess proficiency in one of these languages.
