Adheres to all OSHA, CDC and/or Ohio University required safety guidelines; Sweeps, mops, strips, waxes, polishes and renews floor surfaces; Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets; Washes walls; cleans, dusts and waxes furniture and fixtures following either Level 1 or Level 2 clean/sanitize/disinfect guidelines as directed; Cleans glass and mirrors; Cleans and empties trash receptacles; May remove and hang drapes; Removes snow and ice from walkways and entrance areas; Reports need for equipment repair; Reports evidence of fire, illegal entry and theft of property; Checks in supplies; stocks supply areas; May assist in washing and sanitizing dishes, glassware, utensils, pots & pans; Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures & drinking fountains; Operates dish machine/pot washer to clean and sanitize dishes, glasses, pans, etc. Performs other related duties as required. Applies to Facilities Management and Safety Staff.Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in sanitation and safety areas of dining, residential, academic and administrative units; Ability to carry out instructions in written, oral, and pictorial form; Ability to work independently or with others; Willingness to foster a welcoming and respectful workforce and community Ability to read and write common vocabulary in sentence structure; Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, calculate fractions, decimals and percentages; Ability to apply principles to solve practical problems; Ability to demonstrate dexterity and skill in use of craft-associated hand and/or power tools and equipment; Ability to mix cleaning compounds and follow safety procedures; Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; Ability to effectively use a 15 foot ladder; An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills. Training & Experience: May require valid driver's license; Completion of a test may be required.
