Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology (IR) Registered Nurse (RN) for a challenging opportunity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IR, preferably in a Level 1 Trauma Center. This position includes day shifts along with an on-call rotation encompassing weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Conducts assessments, formulates care plans, implements interventions, and evaluates patient outcomes.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments following established nursing techniques, policies, procedures, and state laws.
• Ensures that all documentation is accurate and adheres to established standards at the system and entity levels.
• Develops, initiates, and executes a patient-centered plan of care as dictated by individual patient needs and medical directives.
• Utilizes available resources to educate and support patients and their families, ensuring comprehension based on the patient's level of understanding.
• Engages in department performance improvement initiatives, including shared governance participation.
• Provides clinical expertise and guidance to other departments in support of the patient's longitudinal care plan.
• Proactively addresses system breakdowns and collaborates with others to find solutions.
• Utilizes critical thinking in patient safety and experience, effectively managing complex situations and delegating tasks as appropriate.
• Acts as a positive influence within the professional and organizational environments, supporting shared governance principles.
• Participates in personal development and contributes to opportunities for continuous learning and growth, including evidence-based practice improvement.
• Engages in peer review and feedback opportunities to uphold professional standards.
• For Clinic and Ambulatory positions, ensures timely patient flow, responds to telephone inquiries, and performs telephone triage.

Education and Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Minimum of three years of RN experience with at least one year in critical care.
• Cardiovascular intervention experience is required.

Certification and Licensure

• Current Illinois RN licensure.
• Current certifications in CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
• Must successfully pass an EKG test prior to completing orientation.
