Shipping & Receiving Clerk

Principle Duties and Responsibilities


SHIPPING

• Responsible for preparation of product for timely shipment to both end-customer and outside processing vendors in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
• Accurate completion of records of shipment, bills of lading, internal shipping documents and other "carrier-specific" forms required by freight carriers for transport.
• Verifies and records all items loaded for shipment and completes shipping reports.
• Schedules convenient pick up of freight by various carriers.
• Tracks inbound and outbound freight.
• Performs freight company cost comparisons

RECEIVING

• Responsible for unpacking and performing limited receiving inspection of all incoming shipments.
• Verifies items received against purchase order and noting discrepancies.
• Completes receiving documentation and performs data entry of purchase order receipts into receiving log/DBA database.
• Weighs and verifies raw material.
• Rejects damaged items and records shortages.
• Maintains filing system for outbound bills of lading and returned goods.
• Generates raw material inventory identification labels.
• Maintains inventory of finished goods and raw materials.
• Assists Purchasing/Accounting Departments with receipt/invoice discrepancy resolution as needed.
• Performs cycle counts/weekly inventory counts.
• Maintains accurate inventory.
• Operation of forklift for material handling purposes.

DRIVER

• Operate company vehicles (including manual transmission) to transport materials and products between various locations safely and efficiently.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record in accordance with company policies.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and securing cargo to prevent damage during transit.
• Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to plan delivery schedules and optimize routes.
• Adhere to all applicable traffic and safety regulations while operating company vehicles.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks (e.g., checking fluid levels, tire pressure, and cleanliness).

OTHER DUTIES

• Assist with month-end inventory activities as needed.

Experience and Education

• Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.

Technical Skills

• Ability to properly count, weigh, and verify finished goods and raw material.
• Working knowledge of computer operations including data entry and basic office skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
• Proficiency in operating vehicles with manual transmissions (stick shift)
• Valid forklift operator's license.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization (written, verbal, computer).
