36 hpw; 12-hr shifts (11a-1130p x 3) FLEX with rotating weekends and holidays

Duties/Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Team Leader begins with basis of charge nurse description and includes but is not limited to the following:

• Assesses physical, mental, and psychological status of patient using age-appropriate knowledge within ED specialty and patients served.
• Plans, evaluates and supervises care of all patients within the ED and others as assigned.
• Works collaboratively with other disciplines in care of patient to provide excellent service to patients served.
• Coordinates and participates in formal and informal educational programs, in-services and performance improvement activities to improve technical skills within and outside of specialty area.
• Responsible for continued learning and application to practice within and outside of specialty area.
• Responsible for providing patient and family education and updates to population served. May perform real time service recovery.
• Work practice reflects philosophy, purpose and policies of the hospital and department based upon evidence based best practices and ENA standards.
• Collaborates with Emergency Department physicians, specialists, inpatient nursing units, admitting and supervisors and facilitates flow through department.
• Meets and collaborates with the UBE to mentor and report on progress of new hires.
• Participates in the assessment of staff performance, in collaboration with the Director, through contribution to individual staff performance reviews.
• Regulatory Readiness crash carts checked, refrigerator checked, ensure equipment does not block egress or fire extinguishers, completes survey readiness checklists.
• Maintains listing of materials and equipment and updates staff on any repair and follow-ups. Checks supply inventory for expiration dates at least twice per year.
• Assures inventory is performed on all specialty carts and in trauma room, as well as any other areas as needed.
• Ensures calls to NEOB made within 60 minutes, all Live documentation is complete by performing live audits of Moderate sedation, STEMI, Code Stroke, Sepsis, Patient Expirations.
• EMTALA ensures all transfer paperwork/process complete.
• 50% attendance rate at weekly team leader meetings.
• Serves as co-chair of workgroup to launch and implement a new initiative yearly for process improvement within the specialty area.

Experience/Knowledge/skills Required

• BSN; OR other advance degree considered; OR current enrollment in BSN program with completion within 1 year of hire into team lead position
• Charge experience required
• Minimum of 2 year's RN experience in Emergency Department required
• BLS, ACLS, PALS and CPI required
• Current CEN or obtained within 6 months of hire into Team Lead position
• Current MA RN License required

Preferred skills and education

• TNCC
• ENPC

Registration/Certification

• Current RN License, Massachusetts

Pay Range:

$40.64 - $85.72

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
