Lead A&P MechanicSTS Technical Services is hiring an experienced Lead A&P Mechanic in Melbourne, Florida, for a full-time, contract-to-direct opportunity supporting specialized aircraft maintenance, modification, testing and certification programs.This position requires hands-on King Air maintenance experience and a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate. The Lead A&P Mechanic will perform and oversee maintenance, repair, inspection and modification activities while providing daily direction to aircraft mechanics and technicians.The Lead A&P Mechanic supports a mixed fleet of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft used for specialized flight operations. This role leads aircraft maintenance activities while ensuring work is completed in accordance with FAA regulations, technical requirements and established procedures. The position also supports aircraft modifications, systems integration, ground testing, flight testing and certification activities.Responsibilities include:Lead and perform scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenancePerform aircraft inspections, repairs and modificationsAssign work and provide daily direction to aircraft mechanics and techniciansTroubleshoot airframe and powerplant systemsTroubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systemsPerform and oversee structural repairsSupport aircraft modification workRead and interpret maintenance manualsReview engineering drawings, work instructions and regulatory documentationVerify completed work meets safety, quality and airworthiness requirementsComplete and review aircraft maintenance records and technical documentationCoordinate with Engineering, Quality Assurance and program leadershipSupport aircraft systems integrationSupport ground testing and flight testing activitiesSupport aircraft certification activitiesMentor less-experienced techniciansPromote safe and efficient maintenance practicesProvide approval for return to service when authorized and within the privileges of the individual's FAA certificateSupport workflow, productivity, tooling control and hangar safetyQualifications include:Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate requiredPrevious hands-on King Air maintenance experience requiredCandidates without King Air experience will not be consideredPrevious lead, supervisory or team-lead experience in an aircraft maintenance environmentStrong turboprop aircraft maintenance and troubleshooting experienceExperience performing aircraft structural repairs and modificationsWorking knowledge of aircraft powerplantsWorking knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systemsAbility to read and interpret maintenance manualsAbility to read engineering drawings, blueprints and regulatory documentationStrong understanding of FAA maintenance requirements and airworthiness standardsStrong attention to detailCommitment to safety and regulatory complianceEffective leadership and communication skillsStrong organizational skillsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative hangar environmentPreferred Qualifications include:King Air 350 experienceInspection AuthorizationTurbine helicopter experienceMilitary aviation experienceSpecial-mission aircraft experienceOEM experienceThis is an opportunity to take a lead role supporting specialized aircraft operations, maintenance and modification programs in Melbourne, Florida.
