Department: 34901 Advocate Lutheran General Hospital – Psychology: Child/Adolescent Status: Part time Benefits Eligible: No Hours Per Week: 8 Schedule Details/Additional Information: Every other Saturday and Sunday 8AM-4:30PM Pay Range: $33.05 - $49.60 Position Summary This position supports the Child and Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatric Unit at Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. The role provides therapeutic supports to patients and families, administers risk assessments, and collaborates with psychiatrists and a multidisciplinary team. With smaller patient-to-therapist ratios, the therapist focuses on relationship building and promoting positive outcomes. Responsibilities Direct Service Provide individual, couple, and family therapy using a solution-focused brief therapy framework. Interview and evaluate patients, establish diagnosis, and monitor behavior. Collaboratively develop treatment plans with patients, defining goals, specific outcomes, and timelines. Intervene psychotherapeutically to modify attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors to improve patient functioning. Offer case management, outreach, and aftercare services. Counsel crisis patients to stabilize conditions, preventing self-harm or harm to others, using short-term crisis intervention techniques or referrals. Meet performance standards for direct staff hours (DSH) as outlined. Develop and lead at least one treatment and/or skills-building group. Utilize and teach appropriate cognitive/behavioral management and skill-building techniques. Communicate with other agencies to obtain patient information and consult on progress. Consult on crisis services and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Provide coverage to maintain services as needed. Clinical Supervision Supervise diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, and therapeutic processes. Direct supervisees on approaches to patient needs and suggest alternative solutions. Assess performance, monitor job behaviors, and conduct annual evaluations. Ensure timely and accurate completion of forms, case records, and reports. Foster an environment where trainees advance to higher competency levels. Provide orientation, training, and incorporate billing impact into supervision. Recordkeeping Complete administrative and insurance forms to support accurate billing and management information. Maintain concise, comprehensive case records in accordance with agency policies. Agency & Training Activities Actively participate in agency activities and community contributions. Develop and maintain professional relationships with court, police, human services, entitlement, and governmental agencies. Represent the agency in public, civic, and private groups as needed. Participate in quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement activities. Engage in supervision with constructive participation and initiative. Identify professional goals and enhance job-related skills through development activities. Remain current on trends in clinical theory and practice. Licensure LCSW or LCPC with the State of IL. Education & Experience MA degree in Social Work or Psychology; 2 years of experience in a mental health or related setting. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Clinically appropriate skills. Courteous and professional demeanor. Keyboard proficiency and familiarity with Windows. Interpersonal communication skills. Physical Requirements & Working Conditions Commitment to patient-focused care and effective leadership. Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment with time constraints. May be exposed to potentially violent patients. May visit private residences that may not be accessible to individuals with disabilities. Willingness to transport clients and travel as needed; Illinois driver’s license and vehicle insurance required. Familiarity with roles and functioning of other providers in child and family mental health networks. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds; use patient handling equipment or additional assistance when necessary. Schedule At least 6 evening (6pm or later) and/or Saturday hours as needed for clinic schedule; provides coverage for evening and weekend programming.
