Regular faculty, ABSN, Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

Job Overview Faculty position in the College of Nursing (CoN), reporting directly to the Director of Entry Level Master’s in Nursing Program (ELMSN). Combines teaching, service, and scholarship, focusing on Mental Health courses in the ELMSN program on our Sacramento campus. Responsibilities Teaching (92%): Creates a dynamic, learner‑centered environment utilizing a variety of educational methods and evidence‑based practices to accommodate diverse student needs. Models reflective and critical thinking and serves as a coach and mentor, engaging students in progress discussions, learning‑plan development, and achievement of course objectives. Maintains competence in the subject area, collaborates with colleagues to ensure curricular integrity across programs, prepares and reviews exams and student work, supervises independent study projects, evaluates performance in both classroom and clinical settings, and documents student progress. Supervises or teaches clinical rotations in acute, community, laboratory, and internship/preceptorship settings as required. Other duties as assigned. Service (8%): Participates in faculty organization meetings, College of Nursing faculty meetings, and university or college committees as needed; provides service to the profession and community; engages in university and CoN events; clarifies nursing curriculum and program requirements for students; facilitates academic decisions, resource awareness, and enrollment progression; refers students to institutional and community support services; forwards relevant student information to inform policy and enhance the learning environment. 1722 instructional and 150 service hours comprise a regular, 12‑month annual faculty appointment (total workload 1872 hours). Qualifications Education: Master’s in Nursing required; doctoral degree in nursing or related field preferred. Teaching Experience: Preferred experience with diverse students at the baccalaureate or higher level. Licensure: Unencumbered California registered nurse license or eligibility for licensure in California required. Experience: Preferred experience working with leadership in healthcare and academic institutions and community organizations.
