Project Geotechnical Engineer

Position Overview As a Project Geotechnical Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in managing geotechnical investigations, engineering analysis, and reporting for a wide variety of public and private sector projects (residential, commercial, infrastructure, and transportation). You will mentor junior staff, interface directly with clients, and ensure our projects are executed with the highest level of technical accuracy and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Engineering Analysis: Perform and oversee geotechnical calculations including slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, lateral earth pressures, and seismic hazard evaluations. Project Management: Manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and deliverables from initial proposal through final reporting. Field Investigations: Plan, coordinate, and occasionally oversee subsurface exploration programs, including soil boring, test pitting, and laboratory testing programs. Report Preparation: Write, review, and engineering‑seal comprehensive geotechnical evaluation reports, design recommendations, and proposals. Client & Agency Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, structural engineers, architects, and regulatory agencies. Mentorship: Guide, train, and review the work of staff engineers, geologists, and field technicians. Qualifications & Requirements Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering (with a Geotechnical emphasis) or Geologic Engineering. Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Utah (or ability to obtain via comity within 6 months). Experience: 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consulting. Technical Skills: Proficiency with industry‑standard geotechnical software (e.g., GeoStudio, Slide, gINT, or similar). Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of writing clear, concise technical reports. Local Knowledge: Familiarity with Utah’s unique geologic hazards (e.g., collapsible soils, liquefaction, steep terrain) is highly preferred. Driving: Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for occasional travel to local project sites. What We Offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
