Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Back of House Team Member to join our culinary team. This role is responsible for executing our daily baking menu, preparing ingredients for daily service, and maintaining a spotless, safe kitchen environment. The ideal candidate has a passion for baking, strong attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Baking & Food Production
- Prepare and bake a variety of goods, including pastries, bread, muffins, and cookies according to recipes.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including ovens, mixers, and proofers.
- Prepare ingredients for the daily café menu, such as chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and slicing meats.
- Ensure all food items are prepared, plated, and presented according to company standards for quality and consistency.
- Monitor baking times and oven temperatures to ensure products meet quality standards.
Food Safety & Sanitation (Top Priority)
- Adhere strictly to all health department regulations and sanitation protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work station, cleaning tools and surfaces before and after use.
- Ensure proper storage and labeling of all food products, adhering to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) methods.
- Monitor temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and cooked products to ensure food safety.Manage waste and spoilage
- reduction through careful ingredient usage.
Operations & Teamwork
- Collaborate with FOH and BOH team members to ensure smooth service operations.
- Complete opening and closing checklists, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning equipment.
- Restock ingredients and supplies as needed.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a bakery, café, or commercial kitchen required.
- Strong knowledge of baking techniques and ingredient measurement.
- Active Food Handler’s Certificate or certification in food safety preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Reliable, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
Key Performance Indicators
- Consistency: Daily baked goods meet appearance and taste standards.
- Safety: Zero sanitation violations during shift checks.
- Efficiency: Smooth completion of opening/closing duties.
