This position develops practical, cost-effective mechanical engineering solutions while collaborating with internal departments, customers, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project execution. This role provides office-based design support and hands-on shipyard support to verify installations, resolve issues, and ensure mechanical, piping, and machinery systems meet requirements, standards, and regulations.Domestic travel may be required.Essential FunctionsDevelop and review mechanical, piping, and machinery engineering deliverables (calculations, drawings, specifications, ECNs)Design and support mechanical, piping, and machinery systems for construction and repair while ensuring regulatory requirementsProvide support reviewing installations, answering questions, and assisting with tests and troubleshootingCoordinate with internal departments, customers and vendors to support schedule, budget and deliveryOther duties as assignedRequired SkillsAbility to develop complex schematics, modify complex mechanical drawings, piping and machinery diagrams, and system layoutsStrong knowledge of marine mechanical systems and applicable ABS classification rules, USCG regulations, SOLAS requirements, U.S. Navy standards, and other applicable marine codes and standards.Proficient with AutoCAD, Cadmatic, ShipConstructor, or similar 2D/3D CAD software for marine mechanical systems, piping, machinery, and equipment designMust have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skillsMust have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skillsMust have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanorMust adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awarenessEducation and ExperienceBachelor's Degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience6 Years of experience requiredSix Sigma or LEAN certification preferredCompetenciesFincantieri's core competencies reflect our values and key behavioral expectations for all employees:Open Mindset: Identify and solve problems, embrace change, and seek continuous learningStrategic Leadership: Build trust, unity, and accountability while working toward shared goalsAccomplishment: Take ownership, deliver results, and ensure customer satisfactionSocial Connection: Collaborate, communicate, and value diversity and inclusionPhysical Demands and Work EnvironmentWhile performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear.
