Student Nurse Intern - (ALL FACILITIES) Adult and Pediatric

Job Overview Assists licensed nursing staff to provide quality nursing care for an assigned number of patients while learning the role of the Registered Nurse. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values. Works one on one with assigned Registered Nurse and focuses on patient care. Responsibilities Assist and/or provide patients with personal care, activities of daily living and other basic needs under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse. Observe and report patient conditions/behaviors to the Registered Nurse. Assist with patient and family education. Assist with patient discharge planning at time of patient’s admission and continuing through patient’s dismissal. Requirements Currently enrolled in a college program Nursing. BASIC LIFE SUPPORT – American Heart Association. Ability to verbally communicate in an effective and positive manner with child/family, public, and all other health care workers. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to react quickly to emergency situations. Knowledge of basic nursing principles. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The requirements include exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 25 lbs. of force frequently. Requires close visual acuity including color, depth perception, and field of vision to perform activities such as assessing patients, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading. Exposure to patient body fluids as well as exposure to hazardous or poisonous materials.
