Responsibilities

• Draw blood samples from patients using established techniques, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing according to proper procedures and safety standards.
• Verify patient demographic information and ensure blood tubes are correctly labeled in the presence of the patient.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.
• Explain procedures to patients to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence.
• Perform specimen collection and processing duties in compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, professional, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
• Support process excellence and demonstrate leadership behaviors when applicable.
• Travel between multiple locations as needed, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, often with minimal notice.

Required Skills

• Ability to draw blood samples accurately and safely, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in specimen labeling and recordkeeping.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively explain procedures and foster patient trust.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks.
• Reliable transportation and, if applicable, a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in states like California, Nevada, and Washington.
• Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• At least two years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, to meet staffing needs.
• Must demonstrate superior customer focus and adapt quickly to change.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.
