POSITION: Lead TherapistRESPONSIBLE TO: Clinical DirectorSUPERVISED BY: Clinical DirectorPOSITION/INDIVIDUALS SUPERVISED: MA, MS, BS, BA TherapistsINTERRELATIONSHIPS: Maintains open communication lines with facility staff, attending clinicians and physicians, patients and families. Liaisons with community agencies, vendors, and payor of health services.POSITION PURPOSEThe Lead Therapist is responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities as directed by the Clinical Director. He/she will be responsible for assisting Program Manager with oversite of the day-to-day clinical operations of the program. The Lead Therapist will coordinate weekly group facilitation for therapists. He/she will conduct chart and treatment plan reviews to ensure compliance with agency, federal, state, and local government standards. The Lead Therapist will provide oversite and monitoring of staff training.SPECIFIC AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY TO POSITION1. Review assessments from referring facilities and note problems/issues that require further attention2. Gather comprehensive diagnostic information through psychosocial assessment interview then develop an Integrated Summary, bringing together information from all assessments to identify problem areas that may affect treatment and/or need to be addressed in treatment planning3. Develop a comprehensive problem list that reflects patient’s individual issues as described in assessments and the Integrated Summary and present the psychosocial and diagnostic information to treatment team in a clear, concise manner.4. Monitors and informs site clinical staff of chart deficiencies daily.5. Understands and monitors performance key indicators (PKI) for clinical staff at site location.6. Participate effectively in multidisciplinary treatment plan reviews, demonstrating adequate preparation and understanding of patient issues, progress, strengths and weaknesses, areas of resistance, positive and negative strategies, and use good clinical judgment in moving patient through treatment levels.7. Develop interventions that will accomplish goals and objectives and state the planned frequency of interventions.8. Ensures clinical staff documents the patient’s progress accurately as it relates to treatment goals and objectives, ensures that documentation is timely, consistent, clear, and articulate and keep clinical records secure.9. Assures the treatment planning process is documented throughout the patient’s stay in treatment, opening new problems and developing or revising treatment plans as necessary.10. Is competent to lead and teach staff to co-facilitate group therapy sessions in a manner that creates an atmosphere in which client self-disclosure is facilitated, helps patients gain group process skills, helps patients gain insight into problems, and utilizes experiential techniques effectively.11. Conduct educational groups (lectures/videos/discussions) for clinical staff effectively.12. Address problem behaviors and confront counter-productive behavior appropriately in a manner that elicits respect and bonds with staff while still enforcing program rules and regulations in a firm but fair manner.13. Manages clinicians in a way that allows patients to understand treatment goals and gives a clear picture of where they stand regarding progress toward recovery as seen by the therapist and multidisciplinary treatment team.14. Maintain healthy boundaries with all staff and clients.15. Understand and apply the program’s clinical philosophy.16. Demonstrate good strategic and problem-solving skills.17. Monitors clinical staff to ensure they provide individual counseling to patients at least two (2) times per week.18. Maintain regular contact and open communication with families, assist families in identifying the problems and issues, conduct at least one (1) family therapy session, and assist families in finding resources to help themselves.19. Communicate with Clinical Director and keep Site Director informed of significant staff developments.20. Pursue professional development through participation in education and training programs.21. Have good work habits: get things done in a timely, efficient manner, adhere to time schedules, maintain effective communication, demonstrate willingness to accept responsibility, and function well as a team member and contribute positively to the morale of staff.22. Actively participates in daily and weekly Interdisciplinary Treatment Plan meetings.23. Share pertinent information with the team as obtained from corporate staff or others as indicated.24. Evaluates the impact of therapeutic interventions upon the therapeutic milieu.25. Recognizes, responds to, and assists in psychiatric crises and provides the intervention necessary.26. Respond and assist in medical emergencies as directed and needed.27. Communicates effectively with clients, staff, and physician.28. Adheres to facility policies and procedures, DCF Rules and Regulations and JC standards.29. Support regular treatment team meetings with Site Director and prepares critical care issues for discussion during routine supervision meetings.30. Enforce compliance of clinical staff in completing SUD and Mental Health assessments incorporating ASAM and/or LOCUS criteria. Determines type and level of care using ASAM/LOCUS placement criteria. Completes all Diagnostic Determination Tools and Stay Reviews for program treatment clients.31. Participates in and facilitates leadership meetings as appropriate.32. Stays informed of and disseminates to staff information related to the legal and ethical issues involved in the counseling and psychiatric field.33. Develops and maintains caseload assignments for clinicians.34. Provides training to clinical staff as appropriate which includes required training such as Motivational Interviewing, ASAM/LOCUS placement A, B & C, relapse prevention, and other evidence-based best practices.35. Promotes effective relationships with staff by demonstrating a coordinated team approach to treatment.36. Provides input on an ongoing basis to develop and improve program service and delivery.37. Successfully functions as a team member.38. Intervenes in crisis situations by referring to mental health services.39. Follows administrative chain of command and assigned duties according to standards established.40. Demonstrates responsibility for equipment. Reports missing or damaged equipment and supplies.41. Follows and complies with personnel policies and familiar with Clean Personnel Policy Manual.42. Complies with all Clean program rules, policies, and procedures including HIPPA standards.43. Completes and provides site director with monthly PIC spreadsheet to adhere with compliance guidelines/standards.44. Participates in the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and follows guidelines that promote workplace safety,45.
