Lombard, IL / Griffith, INElectrical Engineering – Electrical Engineering /Full Time /HybridResponsibilitiesPrincipal Engineer is responsible for managing project budgets and scheduling of department hoursStrong technical skills and an ability to mentor and assist staff in all aspects of electrical design, including I&C specifications and selectionSupervise and monitor staff ensuring that engineering packages are completed on time and within budgetAbility to analyze, design, and produce engineering packages for clients and prepare instrumentation specifications for purchaseAbility to establish and maintain good business relationships with key client contacts throughout the projectExtensive knowledge of design codes and the knowledge to establish design criteria and ensure staff is following proper protocolOn-site interface with client engineering representative and other discipline engineersReview, check, and analyze design drawings prior to client submittalsResponsible for ensuring that documents produced by the team members follow both internal and client quality standardsMedium & High-power distribution system design and layoutSubstation design, short circuit analysis, ARC flash studiesLighting design and grounding and lightning protectionElectrical heat trace designDevelopment of wiring diagrams and schematicsApplication of medium to low voltage transformersApplication of uninterruptible power systemsConduit, cable tray and underground duct bank designUtility interface designElectrical calculations including short circuit, load flow, arc flash, motor starting, harmonic, device coordination, and voltage dropQualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 10-15 years of Electrical Engineering experience in Medium/High voltage design and application of switchgear and motor controls within a power distribution or engineering consulting environment5+ Years of experience working in power distribution or engineering consulting 5+ years’ experience supervising staff and managing projects from inception to completion, including evaluating scope of work and assigning responsibilitiesBasic understanding of other discipline workflow and how all departments work together to complete projectsAbility to establish and maintain professional relationships with clients, subordinates, and co-workersMust possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skillsMust be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future$145,000 - $185,000 a yearSalaries for all positions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, total years of experience in the industry, education, skills, and qualifications. Compensation may vary depending on the candidate's individual background and expertise. Salaries are subject to fluctuation outside of the given range.
