This position will work both outdoors and at customer locations, diagnosing equipment issues, performing repairs and preventative maintenance, and helping ensure systems operate safely, reliably, and efficiently.The Pond Guy / Airmax, Inc. is the leading manufacturer and distributor of pond, lake, and water garden products—including aeration systems, fountains, and water treatments—to a nationwide network of end-users and Airmax dealers.The Electrical Maintenance Technician plays a key role within our Service Department by troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and mechanical components used in fountain, aeration, and related pond and lake equipment. This position diagnoses equipment failures, performs repairs and preventative maintenance, and assists with installation and service work to ensure equipment operates safely, reliably, and efficiently.This role requires electrical knowledge, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues from diagnosis through repair. The Electrical Maintenance Technician works in the shop, outdoors, and at customer locations, maintains accurate service and repair documentation, and communicates equipment issues, findings, and recommended solutions to customers and appropriate team members.At The Pond Guy, we operate with a strong family dynamic that extends beyond our team and into every customer relationship. We take pride in treating customers like part of that family and hold ourselves to the highest standards of quality, professionalism, and care in every project we complete.Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include.Troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical components of fountain, aeration, and related pond/lake equipmentComplete service calls at customer locations, working outdoors to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment and assist with installations of complete systemsUse electrical testing and diagnostic equipment to identify equipment failures, determine appropriate repairs, and verify proper operation after repairs are completedCommunicate clearly with customers regarding equipment issues, maintenance needs, repairs performed, and recommended solutionsElectronically complete service and repair documentation, including diagnostic findings, work performed, work orders, parts and inventory used, and communicate recurring repair trends to Quality and managementFollow all safety procedures and electrical safety practices when troubleshooting, testing, installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment and electrical componentsAssist with equipment, inventory, vehicle, and shop inspections and ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are properly maintained, cleaned, and organizedCross-train and support other Service Department functions as needed, including aquatic treatment activities, while following applicable regulatory requirementsMaintain professionalism while representing The Pond Guy at customer locations and while working outdoors in a variety of field conditionsJob Requirements3-5 years of technical or mechanical maintenance experience, including hands-on electrical troubleshooting and repair experienceIntermediate electrical knowledge and hands-on electrical troubleshooting experience required; experience working with motors, controls, wiring, and high-voltage systems is strongly preferred2-3 years of customer service experience recommendedProficient computer skills required, including the ability to use service software and basic office programsStrong verbal and written communication skillsMust possess a valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record. Will require the ability to receive a Chauffer's license and DOT cardAbility to operate a boat and drive a truck and trailer will be required after trainingExperience operating heavy machinery a plusBasic knowledge of pond management, fish health, and wildlife behaviors is a plusCross-train on pond management, including obtaining state certification as a chemical applicatorHigh School diploma required, college degree preferredBecause this position performs hands-on equipment maintenance in the shop, outdoors, and at customer locations, the physical requirements apply to both indoor and outdoor service environments. This position also requires the ability to swim, perform repetitive motions for extended periods; demonstrate manual dexterity when working with small components; frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long durations; lift, lower, and carry packages typically weighing 25–50 lbs; and handle packages up to 150 lbs with assistance. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances.You bring a positive, solution-driven attitude where "can't" and "impossible" simply are not part of your vocabulary. You confidently troubleshoot equipment, navigate complex information, make sound decisions, and deliver exceptional customer service. Beyond completing day-to-day responsibilities, you continually look for ways to improve equipment reliability, identify recurring issues, improve processes, and add measurable value to the organization.AvailabilityWhile this is a year-round position, during the months of April through September, there will be extended work schedules, and you must be available to work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. This equates to an average of 40-50 hours per week. During peak season, there are little to no Saturday shifts. The remaining months will have a Monday-Friday schedule.CompensationThis is a full-time salaried position with benefits.
