Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Bone Marrow Transplant/Oncology unit position requiring 2 years of BMT/Heme acute care experience and CO or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Work in a 51-bed inpatient BMT/Oncology (Cellular Therapies) unit caring for patients with blood cancers receiving chemotherapy, biotherapies, and cellular therapies including stem cell transplants and CAR-T
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM), various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 3-4:1, which may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
• Float required between BMT/Onc and CTU units, and potentially to sister facilities within the metro region
• Uses Epic charting system
• Navy scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) required
• AHA BLS certification required
• ONC (Oncology Nursing) certification required
• Chemotherapy administration certification (ONS/ONCC) required
• Minimum 2 years acute care BMT/Heme experience required, including chemotherapy administration experience
• Prior travel experience required
• Skilled in oncologic emergency management including tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, and spinal cord compression
• Experience with IV therapy/infusions, blood and blood product administration, central line care, and port management required
• Experience with bone marrow transplant care, chemotherapy administration (continuous infusion, IV push, oral), and cytotoxic spill management required
• Experience recognizing and communicating abnormal lab values and managing chemotherapy-related symptoms (nausea, neuropathy, altered mental status, etc.) required
• Comfortable working in environments with flexible staffing ratios

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and other blood dyscrasias undergoing chemotherapy and cellular therapies including stem cell transplants and CAR-T
• Manage graft-versus-host disease, chest tube care, and neutropenic precautions
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be eligible for local rate consideration
• Maximum 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with RTO restrictions during select peak periods
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• Completion of all facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this during the application process
• Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel or perm staff positions within the last two years are not eligible for consideration
