Direct Support Specialist - Part Time - ILS/SLS

Satisfactory completion of post-employment testing is required to maintain employment.

Pay Range: $17.87 - $22.00/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Adult Skills Center (TASC) provides innovative and proactive services that empower individuals with diverse intellectual, developmental, and mental health needs to achieve their highest level of Independence and realize their greatest potential. The Direct Support Specialist I is under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Program Manager. Instructor is responsible for the planning, developing, and implementing a routine program of client's daily needs. Responsibilities will include monitoring client progress towards goals, client's paperwork; participation in all reports and case notes as required and assisting client in accessing all community resources. Responsibilities may include contact with Regional Center Service Coordinators and participation in client-oriented meetings and IPPs with maximum supervision.

Primary Duties:

1. Direct Support

1. Assist, Instruct, supervise and/or monitor the client to complete the following:
   1. Comparative shopping
   2. Paying bills within a monthly budget
   3. Problem solving
   4. Socialization
   5. Cooking
   6. Reporting to SSI
   7. Reporting to DPSS
   8. Reporting to DMV
   9. Reporting to the Regional Center
   10. Reporting to work
   11. Washing/drying laundry
   12. Enrolling in classes
   13. Travel training
   14. Reporting special incidents
   15. Household chores/maintenance
2. Provide support and/or physical assistance for those who require it:
   1. Lifting
   2. Transferring
   3. Toileting
   4. Hygiene/bathing
   5. Medication management (Self-Administration of Medications)
   6. Medical Appointments

1. Complete daily care notes in Therap (or current platform) by end of assigned shift
2. Accurately report all hours of work via TASC's time tracking system
3. Meet with Program Director/Manager/Coordinator to write/compose semi-annual and annual reports to funding sources

1. Training
2. Attend all mandatory ILS/SLS staff trainings and events

Other Duties:

1. Perform other duties as assigned
2. Perform other off-site duties as assigned
3. Participates in weekly meetings, trainings, etc. as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:

1. Must have a high school diploma (or GED)
2. Must have excellent organizational skills, writing skills, oral communication
3. Self-motivated and a willingness to participate in independent and supported living service settings.
4. Must have clean DMV record and reliable transportation with current insurance coverage, if required to drive for position
5. Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR
6. Must receive criminal record clearance through the DOJ
7. Maintain all certifications up to date
8. Ability to work effectively as a team member
9. Other qualifications may vary by client's needs, and may include physical assistance, lifting, toileting, medication monitoring, etc.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to drive company and/or personal vehicle for work, including transporting clients to and from work and/or appointments as needed, maintain valid driver's license and car insurance, if required to drive for position.
2. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
3. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards

1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
