Posting Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF ANNUAL GIVING, MIT Sloan Office of External Relations, management and solicitation of a portfolio of approximately 1,000 annual fund donors and prospects with the capacity to contribute between $2,500 and $100,000 to the MIT Sloan Annual Fund; responsible for completing 100–120 prospect meetings annually through a combination of in-person and virtual engagement, and for conducting strategic outreach via video, phone, text, and email to secure philanthropic leadership-level commitments at key fundraising periods and throughout the calendar and fiscal year, including MIT's giving day; preparation of timely and comprehensive contact reports, proposals, and other donor-related materials, as well as consistent and effective follow-up with prospects and donors; and will personally steward donors by expressing appreciation for their support and collaborating with colleagues to implement strategies that strengthen donor retention and engagement. Working closely with their manager, the candidate will establish annual goals related to solicitation activity and fundraising outcomes and will leverage special giving opportunities and events.The full job description is available here:

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in areas such as personal solicitation, sales, or a related field; collaborative, self-motivated, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; exhibit exceptional judgment, diplomacy, discretion, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage comfortably and appropriately with high-profile individuals and potential major benefactors; ability to quickly learn and effectively communicate MIT Sloan's mission, culture, academic programs, strategic priorities, and philanthropic opportunities; and strong communication and presentation skills, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to travel domestically, as approved by MIT Sloan.

Will require occasional evening and weekend work.
