Route Driver

Description

Specific Job Responsibilities:

*Safely load, deliver and unload cylinders containing compressed gases and hard goods orders; return empty cylinders to branch or plant for refilling.

*Perform all required pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations.

*Complete all FDA/DOT required documentation.

*Track delivery and pick-up of cylinders at customer sites using handheld device and complete all the required information/steps during the delivery and pick-up processes.

*Keep truck clean and in line with DOT standards.

*Communicate with supervisor on truck maintenance, customer-related issues, and delivery efficiencies.

*Establish and maintain good customer relations by communicating in person with customers.

*Identify and monitor customers' needs and work with them to maintain proper hard goods and cylinder levels to minimize or eliminate emergency deliveries.

*Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

*Ensure all safety rules are strictly observed.

Qualifications:

*High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

*One (1) year driving experience.

*CDL A or B with Hazmat Endorsement.

*Clean MVR driving record.

*Employee must be able to lift 65 lbs.

*Employee must meet all physical qualification standards imposed by the DOT.

*Ability to read and comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

*While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk on concrete for an extended period of time; bend; use hands and arms; and handle cylinders regularly weighing 150 pounds up to a maximum of 600 pounds.

*Flexibility to work overtime as required.
