Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Travel Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team in Watertown, New York. This assignment offers a dynamic and fast-paced environment where you will provide critical care to a diverse patient population presenting with various acute illnesses and injuries.

The successful candidate will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, rapid intervention in life-threatening situations, and collaborative care planning. This role requires a commitment to patient safety, strong clinical judgment, and the ability to adapt to evolving patient needs within an emergency setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify and intervene effectively in life-threatening situations, demonstrating advanced critical thinking.
• Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with established nursing principles and protocols.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, addressing clinical, teaching, mental, and spiritual needs.
• Ensure patient and staff safety by recognizing potential hazards and implementing appropriate interventions, including the safe use of patient lifts.
• Maintain composure and function effectively in high-stress, rapidly changing emergency situations.
• Demonstrate strong leadership, prioritizing patient care needs and delegating tasks appropriately to team members.
• May be required to assume Charge Nurse responsibilities, overseeing unit operations and guiding staff.

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent, acute care Emergency Department experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience is mandatory.
• Proficiency with MEDITECH Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Must reside outside a 100-mile radius of the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Critical Care experience.
• Prior experience in a Charge Nurse role.

Skills & Competencies

• Clinical Skills: Advanced cardiac rhythm interpretation (lethal dysrhythmias), defibrillation, IV insertion, medication administration, phlebotomy.
• Equipment Proficiency: Safe operation and implementation of patient lifts.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong leadership, excellent prioritization and delegation skills, superior interpersonal and organizational capabilities, effective written and verbal communication, ability to perform under pressure in stressful environments.
