Job Title: Aircraft Inspector IV

Job Description

The Aircraft Inspector IV leads complex inspections on modified Boeing 747 aircraft, ensuring airworthiness, regulatory compliance, and high-quality maintenance standards. This role develops and implements inspection protocols, performs detailed on-aircraft inspections across avionics and structures, and drives continuous improvement in maintenance and inspection practices. The position requires advanced technical expertise, strong documentation skills, and the ability to mentor and guide junior inspectors in a demanding aerospace and defense environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee complex inspections on modified Boeing 747 aircraft, with a focus on structural, avionics, and systems integrity.
• Develop, implement, and refine inspection protocols, checklists, and procedures to ensure consistent and compliant inspection practices.
• Perform detailed on-aircraft inspections, including airframe, sheet metal structures, avionics systems, and related components.
• Ensure accurate, thorough, and timely documentation of inspection findings, nonconformities, and corrective actions.
• Address and resolve significant compliance issues by coordinating with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to determine appropriate corrective measures.
• Conduct periodic audits of maintenance processes to verify adherence to regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer specifications.
• Lead training and mentorship programs for junior inspectors, providing guidance on inspection techniques, documentation standards, and safety practices.
• Apply advanced knowledge of aircraft systems, equipment, and parts to identify defects, corrosion, structural damage, and other conditions affecting airworthiness.
• Utilize appropriate inspection methods, tools, and equipment to determine the airworthiness of aviation products after maintenance or modification.
• Support component repair inspections and verification activities, ensuring parts and assemblies meet required specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams involved in aircraft modification, including structures, avionics, and maintenance personnel, to support mission integration work.
• Promote a strong safety culture by following safety-sensitive procedures, especially when working around explosives, hazardous materials, and heavy equipment.
• Operate or supervise the operation of vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment, or machinery as required for inspection activities.
• Work in varying environmental conditions, including outdoor elements, to complete inspections and related tasks.
• Maintain readiness to support aviation-related duties on a high-visibility defense program.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vandalia, OH.

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $48.00/hr.
