Job Description
This position is in the Cardiovascular Preoperative unit, a crucial area of patient care. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring equipment and offers an exceptional value in patient services.
Unit Specifics
- Number of Beds: 4
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Staff Composition: Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Coordinator, Secretary, Manager, among others shared with the Cardiovascular Operating Room.
- Documentation System: Cerner
- On-Call Requirements: Stay late 1-2 times per week
- Floating Policy: Within scope of practice and experience
Required Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Critical Care experience is a must; Preoperative experience is a plus
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and high-acuity patient area
- Strong critical thinking skills
Advanced Skills Needed
The following procedures are performed within the unit:
- Large-bore IV starts
- Chin to toe hair removal
- Medication administration
- Skin assessment
- Assistance with arterial line, central line, and epidural placement
- Transporting patients to the operating room
- Assistance with induction/intubation, positioning, and skin preparation
Dress Code
Required uniforms will be provided.
