Part-Time Editorial Specialist

This job was posted by For more information, please see the job posting at What You Will Be Doing The Editorial Specialist must exercise independent judgment and possess discretion in making decisions on the front-end of a key aspect of our core business (shaping and positioning the books we publish). The Editorial Specialist is also responsible for performing detailed, substantive editing on our book manuscripts, and proactively engaging with authors to help our readers know, love, and serve Jesus Christ. This work is highly intellectual and specialized. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. Work with Developmental Editorial Team. Prepare manuscripts for typesetting; care for detail (e.g., endnotes, formatting, etc.). Review page proofs and assist with proofreading house-wide. Compile editor and author corrections to second pages. Use iThenticate to review/flag instances of plagiarism or insufficient citations. Developmentally edit manuscripts. Production Process Specialist. Register books with the Library of Congress. Take on various back-end tasks (archiving/shelving books, CIP data, registering for copyright, etc.). PPM/Tracking Report. Schedule Organization. Expert in Tracking Report. Permissions Coordinator. Review and respond to permissions requests. Coordinate with other departments when necessary to resolve requests.
