Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a community hospital in California, requiring a valid CA RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience.

Details

• Evening shift position working 3x12-hour shifts (15:00–03:30)
• 13-week contract
• General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric population
• Community hospital setting; teaching hospital experience preferred
• Patient assignment is determined by acuity and clinical need, with a maximum ratio of 1:4
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Every other weekend required
• No block or grouped shifts

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA or ARC only); MAB or CPI also required (will accept either)
• Preferred certifications: TNCC, NIHSS, NPR, OCN, CPI (if MAB submitted)
• Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Core clinical skills required: triage, IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, procedural sedation monitoring, continuous IV sedation, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients, and ABG interpretation required
• Ability to manage a broad range of ED presentations including neurological, respiratory, cardiac, trauma, and behavioral health cases
• 2 supervisor references obtained within the past year required for consideration
• Any background or licensure disclosures must be accompanied by supporting documentation

Additional Information

• Preferred experience includes trauma (Level I or II), charge RN, LTAC, and pediatric ED settings
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, ICP monitoring, neuro-trauma, and ortho trauma
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are eligible to apply
• Previously employed staff must have a separation of at least 1 year before returning as a traveler; former manager's name will be required
• Maximum of 7 days of RTO per contract; only 1 holiday may be requested off per contract
• Holiday coverage is expected for: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day (holiday period begins at 7:00 PM the night before and ends at 7:00 AM the day after)
• 7-year work history verification is required
