Occupational Therapist or Sr. OT - Outpatient, PCP Galveston Apply for the Occupational Therapist or Sr. OT - Outpatient, PCP Galveston role at The University of Texas Medical Branch. This is an open-pooled position. Applicants' education and experience will be considered and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level, as appropriate. Occupational Therapist Directs the evaluation, development, coordination, and implementation of occupational therapy intervention provided to patients. Serves as a patient advocate ensuring that occupational therapy meets legal, ethical, institutional standards and adheres to department goals. Preferred Hand or neuro experience preferred. Education & Experience Master’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Licensed or eligible for license in the State of Texas. No experience required. Essential Job Functions Provides evaluation, treatment and discharge planning to patients relative to age, culture, and condition in assigned clinical area. Documents patient evaluation, treatment progress, and billing appropriately in the medical record, meeting peer review requirements. Communicates pertinent patient information with the patient, family members, physicians, team members, and other disciplines. Participates in rounds, clinics, and case conferences as assigned. Meets required competencies for assigned area. Delegates duties and monitors service delivery to COTA, Rehabilitation Aide. Supervises students as requested (at least 1 year of experience). Participates in and provides in-service/continuing education/research opportunities. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Performs related duties as required. Senior Occupational Therapist Provides advanced clinical leadership and mentoring within the occupational therapy department. Education & Experience (Senior) Master’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Licensed or eligible for license in the State of Texas. Five years’ related experience. Essential Job Functions (Senior) Provides evaluation, treatment and discharge planning to patients relative to age, culture, and condition in assigned clinical area. Documents patient evaluation, treatment progress, and billing appropriately in the medical record, meeting peer review requirements. Communicates pertinent patient information with the patient, family members, physicians, team members, and other disciplines. Participates in rounds, clinics, and case conferences as assigned. Meets required competencies for assigned area. Delegates duties and monitors service delivery to COTA, Rehabilitation Aide. Supervises students as requested. Participates in training and supervision of entry-level therapist and mentoring Occupational Therapist. Provides in-service/continuing education, research, teaching opportunities at department, state or national levels. Participates and assists with implementation and data gathering for quality assurance activities and attends seminars, webinars to support evidence-based practice. Participates in community programs with the hospital or organization. Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. Performs related duties as required.
