You will participate in the evaluation, recommendation, and specification for engineered systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards / practices. You will lead junior staff on your projects and collaborate with internal and external team members including client interaction. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and a skilled problem solver with strong attention to detail. We have a dynamic work environment where you can play a pivotal role in a diverse range of building projects across the higher education and K12 sectors, including classrooms, labs, housing, infrastructure, utilities, and related project types such as laboratories, industrial, physical plants, offices, and community-focused spaces.Your Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for multiple projects of various complexity/size.Evaluates, selects, specifies, and designs all mechanical engineered systems or products for a project and assuring work is reviewed for overall technical accuracy.Utilizes advanced techniques for the analysis of specialized building mechanical elements.Performs and oversees the performance of calculations using company standard software, and proprietary manufacturer software.Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of building’s mechanical systems and provides markups for junior engineers/ designers.Prepares and revises documentation in various mechanical phases including site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.Provides mentorship to the mechanical team in efficient, professional preparation of documentation.Participates in client project requirement meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.Assists with developing and managing the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule.Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications with construction documents.Attends project site meetings for information gathering and field observations.Participates in constructability review.Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the mechanical team.Your Capabilities and CredentialsRequisite knowledge and application of the mechanical and/or plumbing codes, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and other building codes.General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, means and methods, and industry standards.Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.Thorough understanding of mechanical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others. Advanced oral and written communication skills.User engagement, presentation and interview skills are preferred.Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and Revit; Prefer experience with Newforma, Trane Trace, IESVE, and Bluebeam.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering is required.Licensure is required.Minimum of 10 years of buildings engineering experience is required, preferably in projects within the educational sector.Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
