Carpenter

Training/Skills: Knowledge of simple math, ability to read a measuring tape and blueprints, knowledge of how to lay out work, manual dexterity, ability to use tools for measuring and cutting, ability of use and understand various tools on job site including but not limited to hand and power tools, including chisels, planes, saws, sanders, hammers, lasers, and digital and electric devices. OSHA 10 hour is required for carpenters. OSHA 30 for carpenter foreman. General Description of Job: Builds/installs guardrails, steps, ramps, walls, floors, installing fixtures, such as doors, and cabinets, and ensuring they are properly aligned and functional and general carpentry. Inspect and replace damaged structures and fixtures. May be required to lift more than 50 pounds with assistance. Help in general clean up, mechanical equipment as needed and other construction needs. Will operate various mechanical tools such as saws, drills and pneumatic tools. Less physical demands include load counts, material inventory and tools, equipment, material inspections, evaluate lumber grade. May be required to climb ladders as well as climbing and/or erecting scaffolds. Environmental Factors Essential to Job Duties: Normally inside but not completely temperature controlled. Hot in summer, cold in winter. Jobsite conditions influenced by many other types of trades. Intermittent noise. Some dusty and dirty conditions. May be outside on dirt/gravel surfaces, possible with ruts or bumps and weather will vary. Walking surfaces may be strewn with cords and tools. Working on ladders and various types of scaffolds including boom lifts, scissor lifts, and frames. May be required to wear a respirator Safety: Following safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in pre task plans as well as toolbox talks. All employees must exercise their Stop Work Authority for any situation that presents a safety hazard to them individually or another team member or contractor. Communication: Working closely with other team members, such as general contractor’s superintendents, project managers as well as Liberty labor foreman to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Examples of regular duties (this may not include all the duties assigned on a daily basis): Lift up to 15 pounds frequently. Approximately 10-15 times per hour. Pushing and Pulling up to 15 pounds on a regular and constant basis. 2 to 3 hours per day. Study specification within prints or plans to prepare layout and materials required. Cut lumber with a saw. Tool/equipment inventory and inspection. Working from elevation, ladders, scaffold, etc. Operation of small miscellaneous tools. Delivery truck load count. Conduct safety inspections.
