General Description

The Marketing Specialist collaborates with the Director of Marketing and team to implement digital marketing strategies, optimize content creation, and oversee social media and collateral production.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement marketing tactics aligned with VRE’s strategic communication goals.
• Manage daily activities on social media platforms, including creating content calendars, scheduling posts, and running organic and paid campaigns.
• Monitor social media channels, hashtags, and keywords to track feedback and trends.
• Engage with, and analyze, VRE social media audiences to understand customer needs and desires and promote a positive perception of the VRE brand.
• Generate creative and innovative ideas for social media campaigns, presenting them to the team for approval.
• Collect and analyze social media performance data to make recommendations for optimization.
• Create engaging content for blogs, websites, and marketing collateral, ensuring brand consistency and quality.
• Assists in content development for VRE’s news/blog, website updates, and other marketing and training collateral
• Coordinate the design and purchase of VRE merchandise and other promotional items with vendors and contractors.
• Submit and track requisitions, purchase orders, and task orders related to marketing and communication initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of social media analytics and the ability to derive insights for improvement.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including ability to present information orally and in writing to a wide range of audiences, including elected officials
• Knowledge of project management techniques, including budgeting, management of projects, scheduling, scoping, and quality control.
• Knowledge of current advertising and marketing principles, practices, and trends.
• Skilled in social media management, content creation, and copywriting.
• Skilled in graphic design, and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom)
• Proficiency using technology and systems, and tools to include Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Solid organizational skills and ability to be flexible and adaptable in responding to new information, changing conditions, and/or unexpected obstacles in a fast-paced environment

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
• Strong ability to develop clear, engaging content for various audiences.
• Experienced in social media management, content creation, and copywriting.
• Experienced in graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Lightroom).Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

Additional Requirements

• Must possess a valid driver’s license, and always maintain a safe driving record during employment with VRE
• Ability to work the flexible hours demanded by a transit operation environment

Working Conditions/Environment

• This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force; work frequently sitting, speaking, or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing, or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, and pushing or pulling
• Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities
• Work occasionally requires working near moving mechanical parts, working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions
• Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic)
