Athletics play a major role in the total educational process, fostering sportsmanship, self-worth, pride, personal integrity, and respect.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Coach all phases of the sport. Assist in administration of contests. Attend all practices. Supervise locker room at home and away. Be available for home and away contests, including some Saturday commitments. Drive team vans. Demand strong team discipline and sportsmanship. Perform coaching duties as listed in CPSD and WIAA handbooks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED. Valid, up-to-date First Aid/CPR certification prior to starting coaching. Valid Washington driver's license and proof of insurance. Meet coaching certification standards set by CPSD and WIAA. Fingerprints via Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance prior to coaching. Head coach must be at least 21 years old; assistant coach at least 19.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Current certificated employee of CPSD. Previous participation in the sport. Previous coaching experience.

Athletics and Activities Association / CPEA Salary As per negotiated collective bargaining agreement. Stipends prorated based on start date. Internal candidates may be placed on a longevity step of the pay scale per the collective bargaining agreement. Working Conditions Maintain emotional control under stress; frequent district‑wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun and heat; considerable physical activity; may require handling objects up to 50 lbs; exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, or loud noises; afternoon, evening, and some weekend work required. Conditions of Employment Employment is conditional pending completion of Washington State Patrol and FBI background check. All background check fees are employee responsibility. Coaching payment eligibility requires completion of all required training and paperwork before the eighth practice of the season.
