Senior Accountant

Overview Base pay range : Samson Tug & Barge | Sitka, AK (Hybrid) | $7,000–$11,000/month | Temporary, Full-time Samson Tug & Barge is a family-owned marine freight company serving Alaska and the Pacific Northwest. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing accounting team. This hands-on role reports directly to the CFO and supports general ledger management, reconciliations, month-end close, and ERP implementation. You will help strengthen internal controls, support automation, and improve financial visibility across multiple Samson entities. Location and Work Arrangement This role may be based in Alaska or Washington , with a flexible hybrid schedule depending on location. Occasional travel to Sitka or Seattle may be needed. Candidates in Alaska or Washington are especially encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations Support month-end close and consolidated financial reporting Analyze account variances and resolve discrepancies Assist with ERP setup, data validation, and reporting Collaborate with operations on cost allocations and audits Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 4+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel proficiency Detail-oriented and collaborative This is a temporary position with potential to become permanent.
