Description Promises/Washburn House is hiring Cooks to join our Team! Schedule: Sunday thru Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday 10am to 6pm (off Wednesday & Thursday) Wednesday, Thursday 10am to 6pm and Friday, Saturday, Sunday 7am to 3pm (off Monday & Tuesday) Pay $18 to $21/hr. About Our Organization This position supports one of the trusted behavioral health programs within the Advanced Recovery Systems family. Advanced Recovery Systems is the parent organization of Promises Behavioral Health, The Right Step, and The Ranch, bringing together established treatment brands with a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based addiction and mental health care. While you may work primarily with a specific facility or brand, you will be part of a larger, growing organization focused on improving patient outcomes, supporting our employees and strengthening the communities we serve. At the Washburn House addiction treatment center in Worcester, Massachusetts, we strive to provide a higher level of care. Our vision includes constantly enhancing and perfecting our techniques to provide our clients with the best therapeutic options possible. Position Summary The Cook prepares and serves quality meals to clients in our mental health, rehabilitation or treatment facilities, while adhering to dietary needs. Additionally, the Cook maintains sanitation protocols, proper food storage, and cleanliness of kitchen equipment and storage areas. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepares daily meals within established menu parameters
- Serves daily meals to clients
- Washes dishes, pots, pans, and utensils as required
- Maintains kitchen sanitation, including sweeping and mopping of floors each shift
- Maintains "clean as you go" policy within work areas
- Adheres to established HACCP guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned
- Intermediate level of culinary equipment operation skills required
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to food preparation and storage, use of kitchen utensils, and clean up materials used in a kitchen
- Ability to identify the needs/concerns of clients, and determine potential solutions, resolve, or redirect as appropriate is required
- Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information such as client care, medical-related information, or finances is required
- Intermediate oral/written communication and decision-making skills required
- Basic understanding of addiction/recovery and/or willingness to learn, required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferably two years' experience in food service.
- Healthcare food services preferred.
- CPR/First Aid Certification is required for this position. If not CPR/First Aid certified at time of hire, certification must be obtained within the state mandated time frame after first day of employment.
