Schedule Day Shift - 2x12.0 Job Description The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care, delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport into and out of the facility as medically prescribed, operating within the scope of their professional license and with minimal supervision. They evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans. Responsibilities Explain purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment to patients, and provide necessary education upon discharge. Conduct physician-prescribed treatments utilizing various ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation. Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal) to promote secretion clearance. Monitor oximetry and capnography as per policy and review patients' chest x-rays for further evaluation. Conduct pulmonary function studies according to policy and assist with respiratory care procedures like bronchoscopy and chest tube placements. Perform tracheostomy care and arterial puncture, monitoring and recording test results according to policy. Ensure compliance with laboratory testing policies including specimen handling, documentation, and equipment maintenance. Perform CPR in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines and manage mechanical ventilation on various equipment. Communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency and document all relevant information in patient records. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure Valid Respiratory Therapy license. Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory. Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
