Pharmacy Technician

Townsen Memorial Surgical Center- Woodlands is looking for a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join our team! The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for performing assigned duties in support of the Pharmacy Department with an emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and patient safety under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist. The duties include managing hospital medication inventory, managing PYXIS inventory, maintaining inventory records, managing employee purchase functions, managing departmental medication requests, managing emergency supply inventory, accurately preparing medications, preparing medication kits, assisting in performing yearly Controlled-Substance inventory and annual hospital-wide medication inventory, recording refrigerator temperatures daily, managing and operating equipment safely and correctly, maintaining regulatory requirements, complying with organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices, communicating effectively with nursing, physicians, and ancillary services, participating in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities, and performing all tasks in a safe manner that is consistent with company policies, as well as state and federal laws.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include working knowledge of pharmacology principles and procedures and the laws and regulations pertaining to the receipt, storage, and dispensation of drugs, the ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations, the ability to maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods, and the ability to complete additional educational requirements as assigned by due dates.

Education and experience include certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, registration as a pharmacy technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire.
