Position Title: General Labor

Area/Department: Production

Classification: Non-Exempt Hourly

Reports to: Production Manager

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The General Labor position is a vital part of Jireh Metal’s production team. The goal of the General Labor Team Member is to minimize equipment downtime through safe, and efficient support to our work centers. This position also requires a safety conscious, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude, a willingness to improve, and a sense of urgency to help wherever there is a need.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

This listing of “Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities” is designed to guide and help identify the expectations of this role and to support the department and business to ensure that our customers receive the highest quality product possible.

1. Assist Press Operators with various tasks such as coil changes, handling and packing products, stack totes on kids, band products to skids, print labels for packaging, etc.
2. Assist with the setup process and empty scrap hoppers.
3. Assist Press Operators with running equipment and presses as needed. 
4. Assist Material Handlers with various tasks such as making boxes, shrink-wrapping, , etc. 
5. Assist Quality team with various tasks such as re-work, etc. 
6. Empty the trash and cardboard recycling containers. 
7. Assist Steel Handler with various tasks such as loading coils at setup, verify steel truck paperwork, etc. 
8. Use measure devices and fixtures to perform various tasks
9. Use and navigate the Jireh Systems (Plex, Job Web, Smart Pac, etc.) to perform various tasks.
10. Startup/shut down of machines and equipment.
11. Replenish and organize wash glove cabinets weekly.
12. Complete 5s tasks daily and weekly.
13. Identify and report troubleshooting issues such as stock alignment, setup issue, quality issues, etc. to Team Leader.
14. Accurately interpret work instructions and other instructions required by supervision.
15. Work with minimum supervision.
16. Follow all company guidelines and policies including the Team Member Handbook, Safety Handbook, Company memos and directions from the shift Team Leader and Manager.
17. Ability to work overtime when necessary.
18. Perform other company related duties and tasks as assigned.
19. Train team members on technical job duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1.Manufacturing experience preferred.

2.Self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.

3.High school diploma or GED.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Extensive standing, recurring bending.
2. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
3. Continuous mental and/or visual attention to operate machine(s).
4. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.

TRAVEL:

1. This position will have limited travel.

LANGUAGE:

1. Must read and write in English

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:

1. The use of safety glasses & hearing protection is required while in any manufacturing area.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Exposure to hazards where failure to exercise extreme care could result in severe injury.
2. Working in a safe manufacturing environment
3. May be working in noisy, dusty, greasy, or wet environments.
4. 4.Intermittent exposure to weather conditions
